    Hi,
I'm living abroad and using viber on an android phone.
I've changed the sim card (foreign country – Brasil) and I can still use it with original PT contacts.
But the friends that have BR numbers (that have Viber) do not appear.

    • ViberTeam

Roaming (being abroad with a number that's not local) does not affect Viber at all.
The problem has a different source.

If you originally registered your Viber with a Portuguese number (or any number that's not Brazilian), then please make sure that the Brazilian numbers that are saved in their full format: +55-XX-XXXX-XXXX

After you do this, wait a few minutes and see if they are recognized now.

Does a viber call use excess data? How much data per minute?

    • http://www.viber.com Viber

The bandwidth rate during a Viber call is approximately 240 KB per minute up and down, 14 MB per hour up and down.

I am travelling overseas from australia. I have an iphone 4 from optus (less than a month old), my phone is unlocked, data roaming is off – to avoid excessive data charges, wifi is on & I can get coverage when in a free wifi area. I want to be able to call/txt friends & family in Aust, & ,family & friends while overseas with the minimum of expense!. Does this only work with mobile numbers? Do my friends & family have to have this app too?

      Hi Lani,

You need an active phone number in order to receive the access code (it can also be landline/ temporary phone number), after the setup you won’t need it anymore.

Calls and texts are free between Viber users, therefore your friends and family need to have the app too.

That’s not exactly true though … you do get charged for the data you use and if your phone drops wifi and goes 3G yu get charged for the phone call

        • http://www.viber.com/ Viber

Viber itself is totally free, meaning we (Viber) don’t charge anything from you.

Since Viber uses the internet, both sides of the conversation must be connected to either WiFi or 3G. If a user is connected to WiFi – that user is not paying anything for sure. If the user is connected to 3G, the user *may* be paying his cell company for the data (about 0.3MB per minute of call), but that depends on the specific data plan that he has with his cellular company, and needs to be verified with them.

Hi guys, I have viber on Iphone at the moment, and my contacts are all on viber for iphone. If I change to Android am I still able to viber my iphone contacts, or is it just iphone to iphone or android to android? Thanks

    • http://www.viber.com Viber

Viber lets you call or text anyone else who has Viber, even if they have Android, or any other device (in the future, Blackberry for example).

Hi, My servicer (Sprint) has changed
me for the long distance call @ 1.97 cents a minute…ouch! Not a
happy Viper user at the moment. What happen? Can someone please let me
understand how to avoid this in the future. This is very disappointing
    and upsetting. When
I inquired with sprint, they told me to consult
with Viber, perhaps, something happened that day where the call was
routed through Sprint and not Viper. I was also told that I am using
Viper at my own risk and suggest not to use it. Help,
    somebody…anybody. Thx
