Viber – The iPhone application for free calls

Viber is something like Skype, but better. You have to install it on your iPhone, start application and you are ready for calling other Viber users. You don’t have to create account and the applicaton does not have to be on when someone is calling you. Only thing you are paying for is your data traffic if you are connected over 3G. When connected to Wi-Fi, the calls are virtually free.

Installation process is short and easy. Just get the Viber from the iTunes and install it, or just click on this link www.viber.com/dl. It is a free application. When first time started, Viber will ask you to enter your iPhone number and after that you will receive activation code. Enter it into Viber and the thing is done.
The whole application is completely designed as original Phone application. Favorites, Contacts synchronized with your iPhone address book, Keypad, and even the call screen is the same as original. Well almost the same. The color is slightly changed, and on some screens there is Viber logo. This way you are working with familiar interface, but still able to quickly differ it from iPhone original one.
Persons in address book which are on Viber, are marked with a Viber sign. When you call them, for now on, the calls are for free (as the Skype is). When you click to call persons which are not on Viber, the standard iPhone interface will show up, and everything will be as usual.

Skype running in background was a dream. When the iOS 4.0 come out, we saw that dream came out to be a disappointment.
Viber is much more closer to elegant using VoIP on mobile devices. Just go and install it and you’ll become fan too.

Hi, I was using viber on my iPhone, and got charged long distance. When I enquired with my company ‘Rogers’, they told me to consult with viber. I either use it with 3G or with wifi, depends where I am when I need to make the phone call. I got a huge bill and my mobile company insists that when I use viber, I am using it at my own risk and if internet gets disconnected, it is charged as long distance, they do not disconnect the call as I expected. Very disappointed and upset with my huge bill this month.
