Viber is about to get much bigger in America, one of the most important online markets in the world. Even though the messaging app has surged in popularity around the world, it remains relatively small in the United States, where WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger dominate. Still, Viber has seen a recent perk in interest in America, and Viber plans to take advantage of that as much as possible.
Viber plans to change all that, and they’re serious about it. “Growing rapidly, with 600 million unique users worldwide, Viber is experiencing high adoption levels in the U.S. and has decided to focus on and invest in this important market,” said Viber in a statement.
Viber Media has hired four advertising agencies to help them make an aggressive push in the U.S. Each agency will help Viber launch throughout America. Each agency will focus on a different part of the company’s marketing push: Droga5 will handle all creative, Laundry Service has got social media covered, Essence for other media, and Allison & Partners for press relations.
“The US has been one of our top performing markets for some time, so we’re looking forward to implementing local marketing strategies,” said Viber CMO Mike Hardy.
The big campaign will start in autumn, and will involve a big push in social media. So if you have friends in America, expect them to ask if you’re on Viber pretty soon.
