Is the sound quality OK?

The sound quality is excellent, and it is one of the greatest Viber characteristics. Many users are reporting that the Viber sound quality is even better than the one they have on regular iPhone calls.
In general, you can expect an extraordinary sound quality. Only when you try it, will you realise how the regular call quality is actually bad.

    I have iphone 4 with viber 2.0.4 installed on it. I am unable to hear the caller’s voice. even if i call i cannot hear the other person. whereas, I can hear the caller WHEN I TURN ON THE SPEAKER, BUT NOT ON THE RECEIVER. I have re installed it 4- 5 times.. still the same problem is bugging me. I have even tried to call in the same wi-fi network. Please i need help asap

      Please make sure of the following:
      1. That your volume settings – *while on the call itself* – is set all the way to the maximum.
      2. That no music player or other sound-using application is running in the background while you make the call.

    Just used Viber for the first time this evening — on call between California and Australia (Sydney). The sound quality was really bad—much, much worse than Skype, and nothing even close to regular iPhone calls. Possibly just an unlucky connection, but I’m doubtful. Still it’s free . . . but the quality will have to improve.

      Please try testing Viber when both sides are connected to different networks (different WiFi networks, for example). Does the problem occur on all of them?

      What devices are both sides using?

    why the sound quality it’s much better when i use viber with wifi? when I use it with 3G or HSDPA I can´t hear anything and the conexion is bery bad.

      Sometimes 3G reception could be low, and this is something we cannot control. Naturally this affects Viber’s call quality and results in disruptions and broken sound.
      We are continuously trying to improve our handling of 3G, and we hope that it will be better in the future.

      Meanwhile, WiFi- WiFi calls on Viber sound generally clear and are free of such disruptions.

      Did you make sure that the problem is not on the other party’s network?

        I have released that the problem is mine because I have called the other pearson when I’m connected to wifi and he is connected to 3G and the quality is very good. My telephone is vodafone from spain. Can I do something?

    Do firewalls effect sound quality?

    When the ports are blocked, do your servers make the connection?

    Should I check my router’s firewall settings and enable specific ports for my device? (iphone4)

      Yes, firewalls could indeed affect Viber’s quality and even whole functionality.

      please make sure the following ports are enabled on your routers or firewalls:
      TCP: 5242 + 4244
      UDP: 5243 + 9785

      (if you are not sure how to enable ports, contact your router manufacturer)

    I have been using Viber for over 12 months with no problems however yesterday when I received a call my phone only vibrated there was no sound even though the phone was not on silent. I then received a GSM call which was quite loud. Is there a setting or something I can do to fix this as I have received 4 more Viber calls & all but one were silent

      This might have been a temporary problem, or even a momentarily disruption of your internet connection.

      Does this problem persist? Have you tested it on a few different WiFi networks, in order to determine the source of the problem?

    My viber has been working perfectly until today I am using an iPhone 4 and cannot hear the caller although they can hear me. Have tried wifi and 3G but problem persists. I have even reinstalled viber to no avail. Is there anything I can do to solve the problem .

      It could be that the network you are connected to is blocking Viber’s traffic.

      1. First, please try uninstalling and reinstalling Viber when connecting to a few different WiFi networks (in order to pinpoint the source of the problem). What are the results?
      2. Also, please make sure the following ports are enabled (“forwarded”) on your routers or firewalls:
      TCP: 5242 + 4244
      UDP: 5243 + 9785

      (if you are not sure how to enable ports, you may contact your router manufacturer)

      If none of the above works, please let me know and I will direct you to our Support Team for more details and assistance.

    Please can you help me. I have a Samsung Galaxy y Pro Duos BT5512 cell phone. I have viber too and tho i can message and receive pictures i cannot hear the person when they call tho the call connects and i can hear the ring. I am using Android and the latest viber downloaded from google play.

    Why is it when I call someone or someone calls me – the sound is too loud, I have checked the settings (put it down to low) when talking and it still doesnt work. I don’t like it. How can I fix this? I have the Samsung Galaxy S.
