We are quickly approaching December, and, of course, that ”most wonderful time of the year” – the Christmas gift giving season. In the spirit of the incoming holidays, Viber Media has decided to give its users a gift of multiple enhancements to its mobile applications: Viber 4.0 for iOS and Android.

What can you expect from the new iOS and Android versions? There are so many wonderful new features in both editions that it’s hard to say which of them will cheer you up the most!
First of all, if you like to spice up your conversations with creative images, you’re going to love the brand new Sticker Market. With over 1,000 stickers to choose from, you will be able to brighten up every dialogue. Just download themed sticker packages and have fun chatting!
The Viber 4.0 update also brings supported Android tablet compatibility, with the new tablet-optimized interface. Viber is now fully compatible with Android tablet devices and enables synchronization with messages and calls.
Today, it’s all about communities – social networks, the entire empire of the internet…everybody likes to hang out with a lot of people. The more the merrier, right? In line with these trends, Viber has also increased group capacity in messaging, which gives you the opportunity to get in touch with even more people, all in one place.
We also have great news for all of you who prefer voice messaging. In this wave of updates, Viber has introduced the Push-to-talk voice messaging feature. Users will now be able to send short voice messages to each other.

    My friend just installed version 4.0, but it has deleted all her old messages. Is there an error? How can I make sure this does not happen to me? How can I save alle the previous messages and pictures?

      Viber messages should not be deleted upon upgrade. Is your friend certain that she did not uninstall or deactivate her Viber before installing 4.0?

    I updated viber 4.0 in my iOS 7. One in my vibers contact list has send me a sticker but instead of receiving a sticker, I recieved a message that “my friends number
    has sent a message with unrecognized format”.
    What do you mean by these?! How could I fix it?

    Someone send me a photo message in my viber 4.0 but instead of receiving the photo I recieved a message telling that my friend has sent a message with unrecognized format but before I updated my viber 4.0 I still recieved a photo message but now I can’t view it anymore! Why?? What’s wrong?!

    Why do 2 of my contacts show as online for 3mins then offline for 6mins in a repeating cycle – online again for 3mins and then offline for 6mins again over and over?

      “Online” means that Viber is running in the foreground or background (the user is available for calls or messages).
      When the phone has no internet connection, or the user manually used the “Exit” option inside Viber, then their status will change to “Last seen…”

      Please make sure that their internet connection stable.

      At the moment it’s unfortunately not possible to delete Viber from your Sticker repository. We plan to add this feature in future versions of Viber.

      Our code delivery system is completely automated, and so it is
      unfortunately impossible to send it via email or any other way other
      than the method offered in Viber’s registration.

      You may try using a local number or a prepaid number in order to register to Viber from your current location/country.

    I can not use Viber Out to call China cell phone number, it popup a “invalid number” message. But I call a China fixed-line telephone number, everything is OK. I also tested some Iraq cell phone numbers too they are all ringed. I’m sure I called the right number with the right country code, so maybe the China mobile operaters blocked Viber Out?

      Please provide the format of the Chinese cell phone number you tried to dial (its length, numbers of digits, area code… etc.)

      Once you’ve tapped (and hold) the “Hold&Talk” button, there is no way to cancel the recording and the sending of the voice message.

    Actually, I prefer the old background. It’s simple and nice. Just a white background and black status is good enough for me. Or Viber group can add another option for background or not :)

      The background of a group or a specific contact can be customized to suit your own preference :)
      You can find this option inside the conversation windows –> Settings.

        I mean when I select a bacground from viber gallery, I have an option to choose the one as last version, with white background and black check mark to know if it’s delivered and seen. I find it easier for me to keep up with the status of message.

          If you scroll all the way down in the background folder, you will find a grey-white clear background that might suit your needs. With it, you can clearly see the check marks that tell whether or not the message has been delivered (as you requested).

          Does this background help you, or you would wish a completely white one?

    I have just recently installed viber on my android phone (version 4.1.0). it works fine for individual messages. My friend has added me to a group, they can see me as part of the group (they are using iphone) but i can not see the group / messages on my phone viber. Is it because android does not support group messaging? How do i make the group come out so i can see the conversation? thanks

      Viber on Android supports groups messaging.

      First, please make sure all contacts have the latest version of Viber installed.
      Also, please try opening a new group and inviting those contacts. Does it work now?

    Hi, Ive found my old viber voice clips and unhid them with file explorer. When I open the audio folder now I see hundreds of old voice clips with just numbers. I press to open one & select open with other & select Viber and nothing happens. How do I replay these? I had uninstalled viber previously so I cant load the history of the conversaton I want to replay. I see the clips still there in the viber folder though.

      Viber’s saved voice messages are encrypted, so unfortunately there is no way to play them if they the relevant message conversation itself is deleted (Viber does not offer a Player for those files).

        Dear Viber, I really really REALLY need your help! I tried the Link you have given but it leads me nowhere.
        I have Android, Alcatel one touch and it doesn’t read the photos I receive.
        when I receive them for just 3 seconds I can see the thumbnail but then it goes black. than I click on the image and it is just black. do you have any idea what might be wrong?

    I am receiving stickers and I am told to upgrade my viber, in order to open the stickers…how can I upgrade. I know I can uninstall and re-install again, but if I do this will I lose my old converstions, stickers received ? etc

      Hi Karthick,

      The reason that you are unable to get your access code is because your phone number is Indian, and you are not in India. Since the Viber activation code is sent as an SMS message, you need phone service in order to activate your Viber account.

      What you can do is this: Start Viber setup again, and apply a different phone number that can receive the SMS or phone call, such as a local prepaid number or your home number. Viber will send the access code to the new number you have entered. Please only use a number that belongs either to you or a person you trust.

      If you are still not able to receive your access code via SMS, please use the automatic callback option to receive a phone call.

      IMPORTANT: This will only work once within a 24-hour period, please prepare to write down the access code as it is played back to you.

      1. Open Viber on your device

      2. Go through the setup again, until you reach “Enter your phone number”

      3. Enter your phone number and tap “Continue”

      4. If you have not received an SMS with your access code within 60 seconds, select the “No Code” button

      5. Follow the instructions given to you by the system

      6. Accept the automatic call and write down the given access code

      7. Enter the code into Viber to complete the set up

      An undelivered message means that you lost connection to the Viber servers. To ensure that you are connected, please make sure that you have a strong and stable 3G, 4G and/or Wi-Fi connection.

    Hi, I installed viber on my Iphone 4s last night to speak to my daughter in New York and today all of my normal calls (Vodafone) have problems with clarity of call and connection issues -taking longer than usual to connect, but ussually do eventually- I have removed Viber and the phone is back to working okay again, I downloaded Viber through the Apps Store please can you advise?

    Viber, you need to stop sending spam messages about stickers. Most of us are not in the least bit interested in stickers and should have the option to uninstall them as well as unsubscribing from the annoying spam messages you keep sending about stickers – 1.12am? 3am? Seriously? You are spamming me in the middle of the night and I am supposed to be interested in receiving that rubbish? Please stop or I will do what many others have done and will stop using your app and go back to Whats App which is spam free. If you want to sell something then offer a paid app with no ads or spam. Don’t just bombard people with this nonsense continually. I already have 37 messages from you about stickers (mostly sent in the middle of the night). If I have not shown any interest yet, surely you can figure out that I never will!
